A friend recommended this album to me, and I am glad he did! This is an outstanding instrumental album, full of deep, meaningful songs that will take you on a journey! It starts off with the song ‘A safe Place’ - I have rarely heard a song that has such a suitable title. If I was to imagine what my safe place would sound like, this would be exactly it! I love the sweet sound of the guitars and strings in this song. This album features a number of dreamy songs though, such as ‘A Reckoning’ - This song sounds very dreamy, yet somehow serious at the same time. I love the piano in this song, mixed with electronic samples on top. The beat is also really well done and compliments the feel of the song. I love how it changes throughout the song as well! You will also find more serious sounding songs, like ‘Last Moment’s Breath’ , a song that is obviously about ones last breath, and it sounds very warm and dreamy again, yet there is a hint of seriousness in this, which gives it a very nice edge. The acoustic guitar in this plays a great melody as well. What I really love is the fusion of almost classical sounding songs, like the ones I have mentioned above, as well as other songs on the album, such as ‘Point of Contention’, ‘Winter Theme’, ‘Seize the Day’ and ‘Revelations’, mixed with futuristic sounding songs like ‘Lone Soldier’, ‘LandPhal’ and ‘Blazing Skies’. This album certainly has a rich variety of interesting instruments, which makes it very distinctive and memorable. The arrangement of the instruments is also very well chosen, which is hard to do considering there is such a variety. The digital effects used also really enhance certain songs.
