TW Header: State of Mind Part 1 - Just listening to the intro of State of Mind will instantly make you realize that this whole album is going to be something special. This song sounds like something that could be the intro to one of those rare indie movies that you will love forever, and watch over and over again. This is perhaps the best insight to an artists state of mind I have ever heard. You can just tell this was written for the sake of art, and it was not made for commercial use, or to gain fame. The Burbs - The chorus of this song is so good that it is worth mentioning here: “If ain’t about the money, bet it’s bout the clothes, if ain’t about the cars, best believe its bout some hoes, man that’s just the way it goes” I don’t think I have ever heard someone sum up what is wrong with society in a single sentence this perfectly ever before. Lost - The intro alone will really take you on a journey - you can tell that Nobility is meant to be an artist, and he even recorded and mixed all his tracks himself as well! The quality of this song and this whole album is top notch! All Good - I love the line “I said these thots are mighty fine but these thoughts are hardly mine, shit just always on my mind, man it happens all the time” This song, and this whole album is about Nobility’s life and dreams, and you can really hear that. It actually really sounds ‘dreamy’, in a good way. I Remember - This is one of those that has the potential to go viral. Every once in a while you hear a song that is so desperately needed, just because the artist is actually honest and being himself. This is one of those songs! I love the line “Black kid from the burbs, not a Rap guy, he a nerd”. Gone - “Baby welcome to America. Try to get your merits up, but if you black or ain’t Caucasian they gone kill your character” I don’t know what else to say. If this guy is not getting famous, then we live in a sad, sad world. O.U.Y.M. This song is almost Jazzy Hip Hop. Listen to this song when you want to chill out on a rainy afternoon. I love the chorus “Open up your mind, it might set you free. Don’t believe in God and don’t believe in me. Listen to your heart if it decides to speak, dreams and contradictions man life is pretty sweet.” It is rare to hear something so true in music these days. This artist is one of a very few who hasn’t been brainwashed by the corporate music industry. Blondie - This track really surprised me. I always love it when I hear something unexpected on an album, and this actually blows me away! I totally love the guitars in it, and it actually fits the mood of the album perfectly. Basic - This song includes a cover of the song ‘Love Song’ by Sara Bareilles. This is very well done, and actually better than the original, in my opinion. The rapping on top of it is original and really gives the song a new, better angle. Lame - This is perhaps the only rapper out there that admits that he is not rich and looking for a job. It is really rare to hear someone be so honest in a song today that is not a love song, so credit for that goes out to Nobility for that. KING - I love the beats and samples of this song, and especially the lyrics. I love the line ” I’m a mighty morphin, mortifying, mother fucking monster. Came to shock the world like mother fucking Blanka. My groupie eating pasta, said man it ain’t no problem. Young nigga move that dope then I destroy and conquer” Free? Listen to this song and you will hear why it is great immediately. The lyrics are what really sets this artist apart from the rest, though. “Smoking Cigarettes with no Nicotine - I only use the filter to filter my own dreams” That is like something a philosopher could have said, but it actually is a line in the song! Suicide Note - This song makes you feel like you have reached the end of a long, hard road and you just don’t know what to do anymore. This song is literally a suicide note with sound, and this would actually make you cry if it was real. Amazing Song! State Of Mind Pt. 2 Awesome last track, it is a perfect ending to a great album. I love the acoustic guitar in this track, with the rapping on top of it! “State Of Mind” is highly recommended to anyone who is into rap, but who is bored of the commercial side of it.
